Photographer Chad Davis Blog

General writings, and thoughts from Photographer Chad Davis.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a Happy 4th.  Also, I wanted to tell you about some of the events that will be going on for the 4th of July.  At Parkville, Missouri just north of Kansas City over the River they will be shooting off firworks at 9:45pm this Friday. Link http://www.parkvillemo.net:80/parkvillemo/events.jsp. In the morning they will have their Annual 4th of July Parade at 10am.  The KCRiverFest will be going on at the Waterfront at Berkley Park, July 3 & 4. The link to more information can be found by clicking here for the KCRiverfest.  Just a few events there, so everyone have a safe Holiday.

It’s been sometime since I have written anything on the blog or news sections.  I had family visit from Washington.  I wanted to spend time with them.  Family is always good to have around.  In this case I had my Sister and her daughter in for a visit.  We had a good time. Traveled around a bit.  Spent a little time in Springfield at Fantastic Caverns, even payed a visit to the City Market, and Liberty Memorial in Kansas City. The Liberty Memorial is a great museum if you have never been there.  I recommend it to anyone visiting Kansas City.  I didn’t get much in the way of photographs at Fantastic Caverns, but I will put one from the trip here for viewers sake.  The vehicles they use are trailing trailers for everyone to sit in.  Not much in the way of comfort but it’s only about a 30 min. ride anyways.  You have to worry about the ceiling more then anything.  Trying to capture a few photographs while moving and avoiding the low ceiling can be a little difficult.   Tight squeezes would be an under statement.

On a recent visit to my first Civil War battle reenactment that took place near Martin City, Missouri, I had a chance to reflect a little while photographing.  The reenactment was sponsored by the North/South Alliance, a western theater reenactment organization of the First Federal Division(Union) and the (Confederate) Army of Tennessee.  The battle reenacted was the battle of Westport, often referred to as the “Gettysburg of the West”.  Now, I didn’t want to write just about the history here.  More to the point, I wanted to write about what thoughts that soldier may have been having before they went into battle. Of course none of these individuals were actually ever in a battle during the Civil War, perhaps another War that has been fought by United States maybe.  This I didn’t know and gave little thought of.

When it was almost continue reading…

This last Saturday I had the pleasure to work with a young gal by the name of Amanda.  A very outgoing individual with a very clear idea of what she wants.  Amanda happens to have the most beautiful blond hair with gorgeous blue eyes.  I also had the pleasure of working with her sister and meeting her family who were delight to talk with. The collaboration continue reading…

Well, finally I have had sometime to write a little.  I have been spending a lot of time taking pictures for stock.  Little nature here and their along with a little commercial work on the side to keep business rolling.

I can never seem to stay away long from what I love the most.  Photographing nature.  The season of spring is probably my most favorite part of year for photographing wildlife.  The animals are foraging for food, finding mates, having young.  The trees are sprouting new growth while people are about enjoying the spring colors along with the warmer weather and starting to clean their grills for the barbecue they have had planned for awhile.   It’s an exciting part of the year.   I’m sure you would agree.   continue reading…

It’s been sometime since I have updated this page. What’s new?

I have updated the site with some new features. You can now write and read reviews of the pictures or products offered threw the website. You must however click on the thumbnail to see the large image before you are able to write or read reviews. The checkout part of the website has been modified to make for a quicker checkout. I have also put a “logout” button at the top of the page for connivance in logging out of your account, if you have set one up.

I hope everyone is well and recovering from the holidays. I just wanted to give everyone an update. I’m offering discounts on weddings and Seniors portraits for 2008. Yes, I’m now booking Seniors portraits and weddings for 2008. Don’t be shy, send an email or call. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Goto the Specials page to see the discounts and download coupons.I’m working on some new products to offer for 2008. Still in the works, but I’m hoping to have something to announce within the next three months or so. CD Photocare has also purchased two new domain names of which one has been forwarded to the current main domain crphotocare.com. The domain names that you can find CD Photocare on the internet are:

crphotocare.com
cdphotocare.net
chaddavisphotography.com

Going to any of these three domains will get you to CD Photocare. I have another domain that I’m hoping to do something with in the future. Just one of many plans I have in the works. Have a good one everybody.

With the year almost over. I’m sure everyone is excited to start their new years resolutions. I don’t have one yet, but I’m sure I will find one to stick too for 2008.

With that in mind. I have added a recent image taken here in Kansas City to the new release section of Studio Art. Link here: New Release. It’s a beautiful landscape shot taken in a well known local Park by the Name of “Loose Park”. An interesting fact, Loose Park was the site of the “Civil War Battle of Westport”, the last major engagement west of the Mississippi on October 23, 1864. Where there were roughly 1500 casualties on each side. In the 30’s the 72 acres was used as a golf course. Then in 1941 during a time when the United States was engaged in World War II, it was donated by the Loose Family to the City as a memorial to Sunshine Biscuit Company founder Jacob Loose.

Sorry it has been sometime since I have updated the enews page. I have been busy shooting senior pictures for some young ladies who are graduating in ‘08. They have been a pleasure to work with. I have updated the gallery pages with a few of their images. I want to say, they turned out wonderful. I think they would agree as well. I look forward to working with them again in the future.

I have, and continue to work on my book project. It’s been fun doing the research and looking for the images that I want to include and so forth. Pershaps this is why, I’m taking my time finishing it. Within the next 6 months I hope to have it finished. It might be sometime before I can update this page again, so I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
